Overview Features

Display and Build

The Xperia XA Ultra features a 6.0 inch HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, 367 ppi pixel density, and Sony’s Super Vivid mode to offer bright visuals. Unlike its predecessors, Sony's X-Reality display tech which sharpens up images is absent on this device. The Xperia XA Ultra has the same edge-to-edge screen design of the Xperia XA, but comes with a larger display providing a large enough screen to enjoy movies, games and web apps.

Giving the device its durability is a body that is made of metal.  This body is 164.2mm long, 79.4 mm wide, 8.4mm thin and weighs 202 grams. The XA Ultra is available in three color options of black, white and lime gold. In spite of having such a huge display and build, the phone and its round edges help give a comfortable grip and well constructed feel when handled. This device is not water resistant, has no USB Type C connector and does not come with a fingerprint sensor as it is found in some mid range devices.

Processor and OS

The Xperia XA Ultra is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 processor and comes preloaded with the latest Android operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It has 3GB of RAM and 16 GB internal memory storage, 5 GB of which are for factory software. Support for expansion of its Internal memory storage upto 200GB via microSD card has been provided, thereby allowing more space for media. With all these, the Sony Xperia XA Ultra should be capable of delivering a high level of performance without killing your battery at a faster pace.

For its camera, the Sony Xperia XA Ultra sports a 21.5 MP front camera with hybrid autofocus and object tracking features allowing high quality selfies even when one moves fast. It has a 16 MP front-facing camera with features like Sony's Exmor R mobile sensor, optical image stabilization that eliminates blurs if device is shaken, led flash to make selfies bright under low light, an 88-degree wide-angle lens and a Night Portrait Flash to help produce uniformly lit images.

Battery and Connectivity

The battery capacity of the Sony Xperia XA Ultra is 2,700mAh and according to Sony, with optimal usage can provide up to two days battery life from a single charge. This battery is non removable and is capable of providing Stand-by time upto 558 hours on 2G and 708 hours on 3G, Talk time up to 13 hours on 2G and 12 hours on 3G, and Music play time up to 65 hours. There is support for quick Charging  allowing  just ten minutes of charge to give 5.5 hours of battery life.

Tech Lass's Verdict:

I  expect that a mid-range device made in 2016 or from 2016 should have a battery capacity that is atleast 3000mAh, whereas on the  the Sony Xperia XA Ultra,  this isn't the case. Let's hope its large screen 6' won't drain the battery faster than expected. Also, a non-removable battery and the absence of a full HD display just adds more downsides to this device.

Some of the highlights of the smartphone would Include Its cameras. Their high resolution coupled with great technology will not disappoint selfie enthusiasts.  Its Premium metal edges and glass construction makes the design good one. The Sony Xperia XA Ultra with a mid-range price is an elegant phablet with very little flaws -  just what you’d expect from Sony.
