Overview Features

Display and Build

The ZTE Blade X9 sports a 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that has a resolution of 1080 *1920p. Unfortunately, the screen of this smartphone doesn't take care of those who have butter fingers by using a corning gorilla glass that is damage resistant. It has a pixel density of 401PPI (Pixels Per Inch) which is one of the best PPI pixel density you'll come across in a mid-range device. At that PPI and the fact that it uses an IPS panel, one will get better vision when reading text on the phone's screen, and pictures displayed will stand out much more clearly. But then, this high PPI pixel density might cause the battery of the Blade X9 to deplete faster and since the human eye cannot discern granular details over 300PPI, one might conclude that such high PPI is a total waste of battery.

Its dimension of 155.30 x 77.20 x 8.55mm (height x width x thickness) and weight of 160 grams makes it a phablet and leaves it on the chunky side, hence might make it cumbersome to carry especially for a long period of time. For its beautiful design, the body of the Blade X9 is made of metal and its aluminium cover comes in two variant colours which are black and white. At the back, is a very quick responding fingerprint scanner.

Processor and OS

The ZTE Blade X9 is powered by a 64-bit Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor which is based on two sets of quad-core Cortex A53 and an Adreno 405 GPU. This processor and its processing speed of 1.5Ghz is capable of providing enormous speed during operations.

The Blade X9 runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, has a RAM size of 2GB, an inbuilt memory of 16GB that can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The RAM which supports multitasking and providing fast operations, allows the phone to run smoothly with little or no lags experienced.

The ZTE Blade X9 features a 13MP rear camera with a circular finger print sensor and a 5MP front camera for taking of selfies and making video calls. Both cameras have a CMOS image sensor and come with other features like f/2.2 aperture, geo-tagging, touch focus, panorama, face detection, and Full HD (1080p) video capturing capability. At 13MP, you might be able to take clear and sharp images that are brighter than the sun. No kidding!

Battery and Connectivity

The ZTE Blade X9 is powered by a durable 3000mAh Li-Ion non removable battery. The non-removable battery will be irreplaceable and one cannot easily pull it out if in any case this device hangs or lags. But then, this battery is capable of providing a talk time and standby time which is generally good.

This smartphone device provides dual SIM slots, one of which can still be used as microSD slot. Connectivity options on the Blade X9 include Wi-Fi, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, microUSB, FM, 3G network in HSPA speed and a 4G LTE network in LTE speed. Its sensors include fingerprint sensor, ambient light-sensor, proximity sensor and a gyroscope.

    Tech Lass's Verdict:

The ZTE Blade X9 is capable of providing fast performance and smooth gaming experience because of its Octa-core processor and 2GB RAM. Also, a smartphone whose camera is atleast 8MP usually gets a 'yes' from me, and here's the Blade X9 boasting of a 13MP rear camera that can capture high quality pictures.

Other features that I consider very useful on this device is its fingerprint sensor which gives added protection. The battery capacity of 3000mAh is definitely good, unlike some mid-range devices that are still using a battery capacity that is 1800mAh like the Blackberry Z10 or 2300mAh as with the Infinix Zero.

This device does has its disadvantages and some of these include the fact that it doesn't come pre-loaded with Android 6.0 marshmallow, has a heavy weight and the absence of a corning gorilla screen to avoid screen cracks which is usually inevitable. But its advantages greatly outweigh its disadvantages. This phone with its luxurious design and remarkable features can satisfy the requirements of a user.

    Would i purchase this phone?

    Yes i definitely would!!
